THE NEW ZEALAND HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY PRACTITIONERS
ASSOCIATION (NZHPPA)
Membership requirements: There are three tiers of membership as below. Please click on the links for details on each membership type. If you are interested in applying for membership, please download and complete the application form and email back to info@healthpsychology.org.nz
- Full Member:
- Practitioner : Full Member (Practitioner) status is open to anyone who:
- Holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Psychology or equivalent qualification (attained after a minimum of six years full-time university study, including a Masters Degree in Health Psychology) and is NZ Registered OR:
- Has New Zealand Registration as a Psychologist AND:
- Who has a minimum of three years experience or 1500 hours of supervised psychological practice with patients who have physical health problems and;
- Two references from Registered Psychologists.
- Academic : Full Member (Academic) status is open to anyone who:
- Holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Psychology or equivalent qualification AND
- Currently works primarily involved in teaching or research activities related to the field of health psychology.
- Associate Affiliate:
Associate Affiliate is open to anyone who:
- Is a New Zealand Registered Psychologist AND:
- Has experience or is currently working with patients who have physical health problems but has not amassed the amount of experience necessary for full membership.
- Student Affiliate:
Student Affiliate is open to anyone who:
- Has passed the Post Graduate Diploma in Health Psychology or equivalent qualification, but has not yet satisfied all the requirements for NZ Registration.
- Is currently enrolled in the Post Graduate Diploma in Health Psychology or equivalent qualification OR:
- Has been accepted to be enrolled in the Post Graduate Diploma in Health Psychology or equivalent qualification.
